Entering the Pousada an English lady exclaimed “This Place has Character!” That describes this Vintage Hostelry quite Aptly. Located off a Bye Lane, 50 meters from the Panjim Inn, the Pousada is Certainly the Quieter of the Two and after the Buzz of the Busy Street Outside, the Inside is a Relative Oasis of Tranquility. A Certain Dignified Serenity and Peace seems to Prevail. Not quite as Old as the Panjim Inn, the Pousada has the Distinction of being one of the Few Hindu Houses in a Predominantly Catholic Neighborhood. This Fine Old Mansion, Initially Rebuilt in the 1930’s was the Ancestral Home of the Well-to-do Ghanekar Family. It was here that the Ghanekar Clan would Gather on Festive Occasions like Weddings and the Annual Ganesh Festival which is Special to the Goan Hindu. |
